Our Mission & Values
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself." Matthew 22:37-39
We strive to reach out into our community and our world to show the love of Christ and His message of salvation with those who have yet to become a part of God's big family!
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20

In the year 1911, Mr. & Mrs. N. P. Dodson moved from their home in Minnesota to take up a homestead in the Drayton Valley area. There were few families in the area at that time, and, as yet, no Sunday School or services were held. Because of their concern for spiritual matters they started the first Sunday School in their log cabin home, in the year 1912.
About the same time the Combs family moved to the Rocky Rapids area and together Sunday School and services were held in different places. A church was build in Rocky Rapids about 1940-1941 but has since been closed and the combined effort centered in Drayton Valley.
In 1924 land was donated for a church building in Drayton Valley by the late Mr. Dodson, and in time the first church building and parsonage were erected.
Whenever men have attempted great things for God there have always been problems. Of course this too has been a part of the history of the church in the past, but in spite of many difficulties, and through persistent work and faith in God, the troubling times have become stepping stones for the greater task that is before us today.
New life was brought to the community and congregation during the decade of the fifties with the discovery and development of the oil industry. The present building was erected to meet this growing need and we, as a congregation, want to be of service to this community in the best way that we can.
Drayton Valley Church of God celebrated its centennial in 2012!
We want to remember our heritage, thank God for his faithfulness to us daily and embrace our future with Christ as our Lord.
